The Route from Edinburgh Airport to Dundee

Crossing the Firth of Forth

Leaving the airport perimeter, the route joins the A90 heading toward South Queensferry before merging onto the M90 for the crossing itself. The Queensferry Crossing, opened in 2017, carries the motorway high above the estuary alongside its two older neighbours, the Forth Road Bridge and the Victorian rail bridge.

The final stretch follows the A90 dual carriageway into the city via the Kingsway ring road. Weekday mornings and early evenings can bring slower traffic around the Swallow roundabout and the junctions serving Ninewells Hospital, so drivers keep half an eye on alternative slip roads if the main carriageway backs up.

Outside of rush hour the run from Perth into central Dundee typically takes no more than 20 minutes, giving a fairly consistent overall journey time from the airport.
